This module will introduce students to some of the major theoretical positions concerned with problems of language and the nature of literary form and literary representation. The texts discussed will range from classical teachings on rhetoric to 20th century theoretical writings with point of view, structure and system. It also aims to acquaint the students with a number of theories applicable to literature such as Structuralism/Formalism, Psychoanalysis, Feminism, Queer Theory, Poststructuralism and Postcolonialism. |
