This module explores the historical perspectives, theories of evolution mechanisms and the principles of classical taxonomy with emphasis on morphological characters. Modern evolutionary concepts especially at molecular level, and taxonomic principles including topics such as phylogeny and chemotaxonomy are covered. An overview of the different invertebrate animal phyla and divisions of non-principles vascular plants with emphasis on morphology, identifications, life histories, interrelationships and classification is also given. |
