| This module deals with the structure of the plant genome including the nuclear genome, the inheritance of nuclear genes, the chloroplast and mitochondrial genomes and the nature of plant transposable elements, plant genetic engineering including the commonly used methods and vectors for plant transformation, the molecular biology of disease and pest resistance, and an introduction to plant biotechnology including the generation of transgenic plants, molecular farming and future prospects and concerns for plant biotechnology. |
