| Unit 1: First Aid Equipment and Facilities: First Aid Kit and First Aid Box - Stretcher and Blanket. Anatomy and Physiology: The Skeleton - Bodily Functions (Digestive System, Urinary System, Reproductive System, The Skin). Observation of Procedures in Giving First Aid: Basic Principles of First Aid - Shock Prevention - In case of: Respiratory Failure, Heart Attack - Heavy Bleeding/Amputation - Wounds, Cuts, Abrasions, Burns - Unconsciousness: the Causes, Stages and Treatment - Broken Limbs, Sprains, Dislocations - Electric Shocks, Drowning - Injuries (eye, skull, spine, stomach, facial) - Others: Epilepsy - Diabetes-Stroke - Poisoning - Medical Emergency Response Plan in Industries. Methods of Lifting and Rescuing an Injured Person - Practical Sessions on: Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation - Recovery Position - Pulse Taking - Dressing and Bandaging: a) Bandaging of Upper Limbs, Head & Trunk b) Bandaging of Hip & Lower Limbs c) Immobilization of Fractures.
Unit 2: Chemicals: gas, liquid and solid - Chemical Properties: acidic, alkaline, etc - Chemical hazards and their safety measures - Other dangerous chemicals - heavy metal, ionizing radiation - Equipment used in storing, processing and controlling of chemicals - Principles of Toxicology/ Pharmacology - Toxins/Target interactions - Cellular Pathology (Cell death) - Types of Toxins - Carcinogens, Microbiological Toxins, Dyes, Pesticides - Short term v/s long term effect of toxins.
