Description
This module will initiate students to the meaning of historic preservation, the way historic objects and places are conserved, catalogued and made use of in museums, libraries and record offices. Students will be expected to undertake a specific project in a site, museum or library and might be involved in conservation of materials, databasing, cataloguing, creation of displays. It will also examine the Mauritian heritage. Students will apply skills learnt in previous modules, learn to compile a complete dossier on historical sites in Mauritius, focussing on the key themes of Plantation Archaeology, Industrial Archaeology and Military Archaeology.
