This unit will introduce students to the way pathogens (viruses, bacteria, fungi, protozoa, helminths) invade, establish, cause disease and evade the immune response in humans. In addition, consideration will be given on the practical ways in which the epidemiology of infectious disease can be investigated in a developing country context and the ways in which this knowledge can be applied to control disease. |
