The aim of this course is to impart knowledge about the condition of diabetes, and give an overview of the principles of care for diabetes and its complications. Topics covering lifestyle and nutrition which are intrinsically linked with diabetes and its adverse effects, both at the preventive and managerial level will be dealt with. The multidisciplinary aspects of diabetic foot disease -as one of the primary cause of patients' hospitalization will be also be examined. An overview of these aspects includes escalating health care costs, the physiology and pathophysiology of wound healing, diabetic polyneuropathy, clinical features and diagnosis of microvascular and macrovascular disease as well as preventive measures to foot disease. |
