The module will be an introduction to the history of photography focusing on the development of the
photographic techniques from the end of the 1820s to the 20th century and give an overview of the
major artistic trends in photography from the 19th to 20th centuries. This module will present the
beginnings of photography and its influence on fine arts, and its evolution in the 1930s until the
emergence of photo-journalism in 1950s.
