| This module will investigate the constitutional and political development of Mauritius from colonial times
to the contemporary period. Major themes will include the impact of the French revolution in Ile de
France, the politics of early British Mauritius, the constitution of 1885, the Action Liberale and
Retrocessionist movement, the impact of the Great depression and the rise of mass politics, post-war
democratization and decolonization, post colonial political and constitutional development. |
