Description
This module will highlights the process of designing a website including conceptualizing, structuring and applying design principles to create visually appealing and highly usable websites. Students will be introduced to the Web and the Internet and will have an overview of the different types of websites with an emphasis on design principles and information architecture best practices. As future journalists, they will develop the skills to design an online newspaper or an ezine . They will be guided into doing research and developing ideas related to the design process. They will also develop an understanding of storyboarding, typography, colour schemes, layout, screen resolution, image resolution and optimization, how to design for different browsers and accessibility and usability of websites. Pratical work will cover the design of storyboards for an online newspaper or ezine. (Note: Examination will be lab-based)
