This introductory module aims to familiarize students with different literary genres, namely drama, poetry and prose. Students will be looking into the specific narrative aspects of prose writing in a selection of short stories and novels. Students will also read poems chronologically in order to explore the transformations in poetic voice and genres from 16th century to contemporary times. The study of drama will expose students to a range of dramatists and will help them to appreciate the import of stage and the specific features of drama as a genre. This module will also promote active and receptive reading and writing.
