This module is a survey of key thematics and debates in American Cultural History from the American Revolution to the 21st Century. We will read a selection of texts across genres and disciplines that define, interrogate and redefine the American nation. Topics will include: the American Revolution; Slavery; the Civil War; Race and Ethnicity; the Civil Rights Movement; the Post-Civil Rights Era; Multiculturalism; Post-racial/Post-ethnic/ Post-nationalist debates.
