This module will initiate students to field techniques of advanced archaeological exploration, excavation and archaeological drawing. A practical session on archaeological conservation will be organised to equip the students with methods of chemical cleaning/ basic restoration of ceramics as well as iron and copper implements. Students will be initiated to the meaning of historic preservation, the way historic objects and places are conserved, catalogued and made use of in museums, libraries and record offices. Students will be expected to undertake a specific project in a site, museum or library and might be involved in conservation of materials, databasing, cataloguing, creation of displays; architectural documentation and conservation Philosophy and principles. This module will include a compulsory internship in a heritage institution to be determined by the Instructor. |
