Description
Good records and information management is more essential than ever before if government is to meet requirements of data protection, freedom of information and human Rights legislation. In addition to basic training in record keeping practices, user needs, and access systems, students will learn basic principles of Management and management of specialised information. Students will learn about the responsibilities of records management in central government and how to select those records, which ought to be permanently preserved, and for keeping them in proper conditions. Basic training in co-ordinating and supervising the work of selection, how to assist public in accessing records and how to electronically manage records. Students will also learn how to apply archival concepts and techniques to manage historical materials that have succumbed to time or neglect or inappropriate handling. Students will learn about international and local Laws relating to records management. Students will be expected to fulfil an internship not exceeding 2 weeks and prepare a presentation on records management in the particular institution.
