This module aims to consider the major theoretical approaches to the conceptualisation of literacy. Drawing on the distinction made between the autonomous and the ideological approaches to conceptualisations of literacy, this module will take a historical approach and will provide students with differing lenses through which to read literacy events and literacy practices in an increasingly multiliterate world.
