| This module will examine general themes in European History in the ‘Age of Nationalism’. Selected
topics will include the impact of the French Revolution, Napoleon I, Vienna Settlement, 1848
Revolutions, Disraeli, the Unification of Italy and Germany, industrialisation, the development of
socialism and nationalism and the development of the European states system. It also examines the
development of Europe in the twentieth century. Major topics include economic and political
developments, the inter-state rivalries, the rise of new ideologies, the development of mass society,
cultural and intellectual developments and European integration. |
