The course is designed to help learners develop elementary conversational skills and a basic knowledge of
the structures of grammar. Students are expected to acquire reading skills and understand simple texts in
the target language, and become familiar with some salient aspects of the culture. Learners will also
develop the ability to ask basic questions and provide appropriate answers to questions about personal
details, such as where they live, the people they know and the things that they have.
