This module will introduce students to the legal aspects covering conservation and preservation of heritage;
introduce students to understanding of conservation, preservation and restoration, methods of conservation of
different types of materials, cataloguing and display of artefacts and other items found in historical and
archaeological research according to international museum standards. It will provide students with an
overview of history of collections from antiquity and cabinet of curiosities to today’s museum collections, the
definitions and concepts relating to heritage, methods of heritage interpretation through the museum and
archaeological collections in museums. It will examine history and its public representations, initiate
discussion on the curatorial and educational aspects of Museums service. |
