Principles of managing animals in typical production systems for biological and economic sustainability: poultry (broiler and layer chicken), pigs; rabbits; goats and sheep; beef, deer and dairy cows and novel species. Best management practices for consistent, efficient and profitable production to ensure food security and reduce greenhouse gas emissions: nutrition, reproduction fertility, housing and equipment, heat stress, animal waste and manure management technologies. Specific requirements for the welfare of main food producing ruminants and non-ruminants. Assessment of animal welfare status in an animal production setting.
