Description
This module will look at both global and regional human rights institutions. It will look at the evolution of human rights within the United Nations framework and the various treaties and bodies created by the organization since 1945. On the regional front, this will include organisations such as, but not limited to, African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights, African Court on Human and Peoples’ Rights and the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights. It looks at the strength and weaknesses of the regional and global institutions in monitoring, promotion, protection and enforcement of human rights. Furthermore the role of Non-Governmental Institutions like Amnesty International and their interactions with governmental human rights institutions will also be analysed
