Description
Groups of microorganisms. Distribution of microorganisms in nature. Microbial classification, nomenclature and identification. Major characteristics of bacteria, fungi, algae, protozoa, nematodes, microhelminths, microarthropods and viruses. Microbial growth and survival. Control of microorganisms. Antimicrobial agents. Basic procedures and techniques in microbiology including fungal and viral microbiology. Quality assurance in the microbiological laboratory.
