Description
Human rights is a major preoccupation for many actors in international relations including states, international organisations and international NGOs. This module examines the origins of human rights and the evolution of the concept. More importantly, it helps students develop a critical understanding major issues like the challenges to the universality of human rights, the question of humanitarian intervention, human rights and intellectual property rights, the establishment of an International Criminal Court and the relationship between security and human rights. It also looks at themes like development, Multinational Corporations and globalization from a human rights perspective.
