Description
Commercial strains of broilers and their genetic potential. Stages of broiler grow-out. Management requirements for successful chicken meat production: brooding; feeding and water supply: importance of early feeding and adjustments for summer heat stress, quality of drinking water; litter management; housing and environmental control; health; biosecurity and vaccination; managing litter quality; indicators of broiler welfare: understanding poultry signals; catching, transport and delivery of birds. Suboptimal and optimal performance indices. Checklist for investigating performance and profitability of operations.
