This module prepares students with basic concepts in biology. Topics covered include: Cell structure and function; Structure and function of DNA; Enzyme action; Introduction to animal and plant physiology; inherited change; evolution; ecology and conservation. Students also learn about basic concepts of laboratory and field techniques and their potential uses in biological sciences. The use of standard procedures and good laboratory practice is highlighted.
