In these two modules (with Introduction to Literature I), the primary concern is to introduce students to fundamental literary genres e.g. poetry, novel, drama. The task is mainly preparatory and experimental: students are taught the basics of the genres concerned before tackling the much more demanding modules on offer in Yr 2 and 3. The introductory aspect of this module also promotes student participation and a minimal level of research.
